Lovin' Those Little Ones

Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone! I hope it is a love-filled day for all. Go out and do something special--some form of self-love--just for you today, okay?

With this day of love and our love theme for the blog carnival this month, I've been thinking a lot about ways I can love my inner child parts. I've been trying to be much more attentive, assertive about getting our needs met, asking for what I want, focused on comfort and validating. I've been much more open to doing things that little parts especially want, even when I might feel childish or silly if anyone else saw me do some of these things.

Right now, I have some little parts who really want to use the sand tray at my T's office. It's like an indoor sandbox. Fairly large, about the size of the top of an office desk. It's also raised--you don't have to sit on the floor to use it. I haven't checked it out thoroughly, but I can see from a distance that it has many toys strewn about it. I promised my little parts that we would check it out today during my T session. I--adult Marj, me--am scared to death! I have no idea what it's about. I usually enjoy playing with the dollhouse I built and decorated and things like that. I don't know what's up.

Have any of you ever used a sand tray in your therapy? I guess I'll give you all an update when I have one. 'Til then, I'll see you all at THE BLOG CARNIVAL AGAINST CHILD ABUSE tomorrow. We've got some wonderful posts on the love theme, and it's going to be great!

OOH that sounds like fun. I've played in a sand and water table at my church's toddler nursery. It's fun. I also like to build sandcastles at the beach and in the backyard with my daughter. Fortunately, having a 4 year old gives me lots of excuses for indulging my inner child.

Yeah, I miss doin' that stuff with my son. He's more into video games and skateboarding now.

I also used to LOVE going to the children's zoo--the petting zoo--with him.

Hope you got to play with the sand tray. Sounds like fun.

mon brings in coloured pencils and stuff for us and sometimes teddies nad she reads books to the littles, its ok its normal part of therapy not just for multiples many non multiples have also done these things.
we have just been on a field trip to the zoo with our therapist and riden a carosel lol to me thats far scarier and more public than a sand box LOL, let them play and move away if you are that nervous leave the area and let them do as they need to and thats play.
hope that helps

we hafe don the meme 25 neds and 5 wans one on our blog case kahles asked litls to do it so you caN go se that if you like

somehow, someway we think it is really important to let your littles have those play times, they really do deserve to have that time now, helps make up for what they missed so many years ago.

hugs to your littles!!!

peace and blessings

Hope your little parts enjoyed playing in the sand pit. I know when I was a teacher the sand pit was a favourite play place of most of the children.

btw thanks for stopping by my blog. I am more then happy to host the May edition of the blog carnival (I may need your help as I havne't done it before though)

Sounds like great fun. Have yourselves a ball!

I think you're right, JIP. I think that's what I need to do. I got a little intro to the sandtray yesterday and my T and I set up an hour-and-a-half appointment for next week to really dive in!

I'm so glad guys had fun at the zoo. My favorite part is the petting zoo! I just go in there, even if I'm the only adult without a kid--I don't care! I love pettin' those little animals! :)

Yay, Clanberries! I will get right on to continuing my "linky love" of folks who played that meme and link to you guys (if that's okay) as soon as I'm done with the blog carnival. Yay!

You're right, Keepers. Even if I didn't have parts...if I could act like an adult when I was a kid, why not act like a kid now? Thanks for the hugs.

Alright, S'onnie! I'll put you down for May. Don't worry I'll be with you every step of the way!

Beauty: I'll let you all know how it went next week. Thanks!
